Design Team Tuesday: 'Hello' Card

Hello again!

I am back again with a card that was on the HOCHANDA launch shows last week when Leonie launched her latest range of rubber stamps.

This card was the first sample I made when I received the stamps and I immediately knew that this was one of the cards that I wanted to make...

This was created using the 'Just Be' stamp set and the 'Flight of Fancy Background'.

The background was created using the background stamp with clear embossing powder then blending colour cloud inks over it.

The branches were stamped and embossed in white powder onto heat resistant acetate so that they could be cut out yet still show the background behind them.

All the other components were stamped onto card using white embossing powder then coloured with the same inks as the background.

I really love these colours and thought that the white made a bit of an alternative to using darker colours for a change.  I think it gives it a more spring like feel!

I will be back tomorrow with something very different, an altered art project for the Altered Eclectics challenge blog design team,

Mixed Media Monday: 'A Father...'

Hello!

I am popping on a quick post as I am off to a Bank Holiday street fair to sell my wares today!!

I still wanted to post a project so thought that I put this plaque on that I have made to take to the fair.  I am really quite bad at remembering to make things for the various celebrations throughout the year but I have remembered that it is Father's Day during June so thought I would make a couple of little plaques to help celebrate the lovely things many father's do.  I would also like to enter this into the That's Crafty challenge, The Sea...

The main stamp set is from Creative Expressions and contains both the lighthouse and the sentiment.  The rocks are connected to the lighthouse but I cut mine off once stamped plus added in a few more.

The plaque is painted using starlight paints from Imagination and the birds and clouds are stamped and embossed using stamps from Leonie Pujol (Kaleidoscope Dreams)...

The lighthouse and rocks are coloured using Spectrum Aqua pens and then coated with glossy accents...

I love the sentiment as I think it is really heartfelt without being too sugary.  This was cut out with a label die (Stampin'Up!) and then some distress ink added...

Hopefully the weather will be like the sky in this plaque for the street fair!!

I will be back tomorrow with a design team sample from Leonie Pujol's new stamp range.  I hope you have a lovely start to your week,

Funtastic Friday: Hearts Galore!!

Hello!

I thought I would share a few samples today that I made for the launch show for Leonie last week.

When I make my samples I try to strike a balance between items that have quite a lot of different products and techniques to show what the stamps can do, but also samples that are fairly simple to show what can be achieved reasonably quickly and easily.

So today I am sharing 3 projects that I made using the hearts from the 'Off She Flew' stamp set.  These were all very quick to make and required very few extra supplies...

This first little gift bag is on the packaging of the stamp set.  It must have been one of the quickest samples I made!  The bag was spritzed with a gold ink spray then I very randomly and quite roughly (as I wanted a distressed look) stamped the solid heart using fired brick distress ink.  I then used black ink with the stitched heart over the top.  I repeated the process with 2 more hearts which were cut out and layered up and finally stamped the sentiment, inking round the edges lightly.  This was also one of my favourite designs!

I wanted to make a really clean and simple type of card (not usually my style!) using the hearts as a rainbow, so that is what I did.  I chose the 7 colours from the Spectrum Aqua pens and coloured straight onto the stamp before stamping each solid heart then again used black with the stitched heart, then cut them out.  The hardest part of this card was laying out the hearts, but once this was done just a simple black sentiment and black layers to really frame the card.

This was a little extra card that I made as I got a bit of the bug for the hearts!  Again I just used Spectrum Aqua pens on the stamps and stamped very randomly.  I do always go off the page as it looks so much more natural and I was trying to make sure the hearts were spaced ok, but I don't tend to plan too much.  This time I used a brown ink as I wanted a more vintage look and stamped and cut up the sentiment so that it didn't obscure too much of the hearts behind.

Three quick and easy projects!

I usually have a mixed media project on my blog each Monday, however I am off to a craft fair on Monday so will be busy at the weekend finishing off stock and pricing up etc. so although I hope to get something made and blogged I apologise if I don't!!

See you soon and I hope you enjoy the Bank Holiday,

Wonderful Wednesday: Feel The Beat!

Hello, I hope your week has been good so far!

A quick post today of a card I have made for the Sweet Stampin' Challenge blog whose theme this week is Terrible Teenagers...

Now I do have one teenager at the moment (although my 11 year old could be!!) but luckily she isn't that terrible.  However I do know that she is very fussy about what she considers 'cool',  so I really wanted to have a go at creating a card that would hopefully be suitable for a teenager...

I knew that I was going to use one of my stamp sets from Visible Image as they make some really different stamps that I know my daughter likes!
The background was created first using ultramarine and turquoise brusho powders spritzed with water.  Then I used a Stampin'Up! star stencil with silver sparkle paste from Imagination to create extra interest.

The main drummer image was stamped onto heat resistant acetate and embossed with silver powder before being cut out...

I had pieces of the background card left over so stamped the sentiment in the same silver powder before cutting out with a Heartfelt Creations die.  I then used star dies from Stampin'Up! to cut a variety of stars from all the left over pieces...

The card was then put together using vintage silver card for the mats and layers and glue gel to provide an extra bit of dimension.

I think this would be a suitable card for a teen as it is quite simple and I really like the colour combination and music theme.

I will be back on Friday with a few different design team samples from the new Leonie Pujol stamp sets, all with a hearty theme.

Enjoy the rest of your week,

Design Team Tuesday: Butterfly Gift Bag

Hello!

Last week Leonie Pujol launched a new set of rubber stamps that are themed around the idea of flight and freedom.  So today I am posting a few extra pictures of one of the samples that I made for the shows on HOCHANDA.  If you missed any they should still be available on catch up via the website
https://www.hochanda.com/

This was a gift bag that I created using the butterflies from the 'Flight to Freedom' set along with a sentiment from 'Off She Flew'...

I have quite a few gift bags in my crafty stash as I sometimes decorate them for craft fairs and I also find them handy for sudden presents that I need to give!  So this seemed like a good alternative to a card to make.

First I wanted to create some texture in the background for the butterflies to sit upon so chose the dry stone wall textures embossing folder.  The wall colour was created by using some grey toned Spectrum Aqua pens and water onto white cardstock.  Then versamark was added to the inside of the folder before putting the card through my die cutting machine.  I then added aged silver powder and heated it.  The idea was to just have powder where the versamark had been pressed in but because the ink had still been a bit damp there was a more random, distressed look which I decided I quite liked!  I then matted and layered it onto kraft card before adding to the front of the bag...

The colour for the butterflies was created by using brusho powders spritzed with water.  Every time I do this I am amazed by the way they burst into life, love them!!
I made sure this time that the card was properly dry and used my anti static bag before stamping and embossing the butterflies with silver detail powder.  These were then cut out...

I chose the sentiment to match the butterfly theme and also thought that it would be relevant for a gift for someone moving on in a job or new beginnings etc.  I stamped the sentiment the same way as the butterflies and then hand cut the strips before sticking to the bag...

I like the combination of silver with purple tones so this was one of my favourite samples!

Mixed Media Monday: Grungy Glam Heart

Hello again and hopefully you have had a relaxing weekend!

I would like to say hello and welcome to all my followers, I am so pleased you have joined me and hope you continue to read about my crafty projects.

I have been busy getting messy with some mixed media this weekend, I think the paint is just about coming off my fingers now!  It was lovely getting really grungy with this project and the colours are some of my favourites to work with.

I am entering this project into the following challenges...

* Mixed Media World - Glam Grunge
* Mixed Media Place - Be a Light Mood Board

* Stamplorations - Stencil Sunday #44 + May Mixed Media Challenge
http://stamplorations.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/stencil-sunday-may-1.html
* Love2Create - Challenge 11 Anything Creative/Mixed Media Goes
* Sandee and Amelie - Steampunk/Industrial

I started with a wooden heart which I prepared with white gesso...

Using the cog stencil from That Special Touch, I applied white crackle texture paste...

After choosing the embellishments that I felt went with the feel that I wanted, I used 3D matt gel to stick them to the heart...

This was all then covered with more white gesso...

I then used a selection of teal toned chalk and shimmer paints from cosmic shimmer to coat the heart and then added extra shades with Lindy's stamp gang sprays (Time Travel Teal and Shabby Turbine Teal)...

To build up the grungy look I added some cog decoupage paper in places using matt medium.  Copper and bronze micro beads, butter mini glass beads and teal and rust toned glitter were all added for extra texture.  Then gold Pebeo gilding wax was used across all the elements...

Finally I wanted an inspirational sentiment, so chose one from a Dylusions set, stamping and embossing in gold then adding a hint of colour before cutting out the sections to add to the centre of the heart.  I also wanted a touch more glamour, so used the wings and a butterfly from Leonie Pujol's latest stamp sets to stamp and emboss in teal Wow! powder on heat resistant acetate.  These were each done twice to be layered up using glue gel...

And that was my take on a grungy but glam mixed media project!

I will be back tomorrow with one of the samples that was made for the latest stamp launch by Leonie Pujol so hope you will be able to join me.

Funtastic Friday: Leonie Pujol - Flight of Fancy

Hello!

Well I can't believe that another week has already gone by and it has been really exciting seeing the launch of Leonie's new stamp sets.  I truly enjoyed working with these so much, and still have ideas buzzing round my head :)

The final project I will be showing you this week is using some more of the butterflies but this time the group from the Flight of Fancy set...

I love making 3D and home dΓ©cor projects so I started with one of the gorgeous MDF boxed from IndigoBlu.  After using gesso to prime the MDF I applied Whisper chalk paint from Americana DΓ©cor and a little bit of blush gilding wax around the edges...

I then used 3 tones of pink Spectrum Aqua pens to create a background of colour on a piece of card and cut the pieces to the size of the box.  Using the swirl stamps from the Flight of Fancy set I heat embossed using pink powder to create my background pattern.  The edges were then deepened with some distress ink...

Next the patterned pieces were all applied to the box using Mod Podge to glue and then seal them, and a bit of gold gilding wax added...

To add an extra vintage feel to the box I swiped my versamark pad around the corners and added aged gold embossing powder from Stampendous.

I wanted to have my group of butterflies (a kaleidoscope) somehow flying above the box so decided to use acetate.  I stamped the group onto heat resistant acetate with versamark and embossed with gold powder.  I then cut the group into sections and used super sticky tape to attach them to the sides of the box to create a bowed effect on different levels...

Finally I wanted an extra little feature for the top of the box so stamped a butterfly from the Flight to Freedom set onto gold card and embossed in gold along with the word 'Fly' from the Flight of Fancy set.  These were then attached using some glue gel...

A very vintage and aged looking box!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing some of this weeks samples in a bit more detail.  There are more projects to help inspire you over on the blogs of the other design team members so do please pop over for a look using the links below...

Leonie Pujol: Kaleidoscope Dreams

Hello once again!

I hope you enjoyed the launch of Leonie's new stamps last night?

I have another sample to show you today and whereas last nights sample was quite fresh and pretty, today's is a bit more vintage and grungy, just as I like it!!

* I started with a MDF free standing tag (from Inky doodles) that I painted with white gesso to prime the surface, then brown paint so that the back would match the project.

* Using the tag as a template I cut a piece of card to the correct size then embossed it using the distress textures embossing folder.

* Using some of the Spectrum Aqua markers, I made a palette of colour on acetate then spritzed with water and coloured my card.

* This was then stuck to the MDF tag using cosmic shimmer glue and the edges filed with a sanding block to make the card fit snugly.

* Using gold Pebeo gilding wax I highlighted the texture and then used a gilding pen to go round the edges of the tag in copper.

* The wings from the Kaleidoscope Dreams stamp set were stamped three times using flitterglu and then gilded with chocolate box gilding flakes.  These were then cut out.

* Two sentiments were chosen from the stamp set and heat embossed onto vintage gold card using gold powder.  Then matted and layered onto brown card.

* All the pieces were then placed onto the tag using glue gel.

* Finally I took a piece of white gauze and coloured it using down the same Spectrum Aqua pens, this was then tied through the top of the tag as a finishing touch...

I love this vintage type of style, especially with all the texture and I hope you have too.

I will be back tomorrow with a final sample for this week from the new launch, so I look forward to seeing you here again.

Please also take a look at the other design team members blogs to see what they have been doing with the stamp sets...

Wonderful Wednesday: Leonie Pujol - Flight to Freedom

Hello!!

I am so excited to now be able to show you one of the samples that I made for tonight's launch of the brand new Leonie Pujol stamp sets!

I totally love butterflies and sentiments so this new collection was an absolute joy for me to work with, so of course the first project that I want to share with you is going to be full of butterflies plus a fantastic sentiment!

The plaque is made using the 'Flight to Freedom' stamp set and it started with an MDF frame...

After coating it with gesso to prime the surface I painted the whole frame using Lace Americana DΓ©cor paint then a layer of crackle glaze.  Once it had dried I painted the frame with blue Americana DΓ©cor paint and watched the crackles appear!  Once this was dry it was covered with varnish to stop the paint from flaking off...

To create a panel for the centre I used Spectrum Aqua pens.  I chose a few different shades of blue and scribbled them in patches onto a piece of acetate.  After spritzing the ink with water I pressed a piece of card into it and moved it around to make sure all the areas were covered...

To add some extra interest to the frame I stamped one of the butterfly stamps from the set around the frame using versamark then embossed with white powder...

Using a Versafine ink pad I stamped out a selection of the butterflies and then cut them out.  I used Spectrum Aqua pens and a water brush to colour them in then sprayed them with Pearl Diamond to add extra shimmer...

I chose one of the sentiments from the same set to stamp onto the same coloured card as the background.  This was then cut out using a pierced flag die from Sue Wilson and backed onto black...

Finally the pieces were placed and stuck to the frame using glue gel...

I hope you like my first project!  I really enjoyed making it and hope you will stay tuned to all of Leonie's demonstrations.  They continue tomorrow at 9am, 12pm, 4pm and 7pm.

If you go on over to my design team mates blogs they will also have some inspiration to show you...

Design Team Tuesday: Thank you Friend

Hello again!

Today I am posting a project with my design team hat on using the Leonie Pujol mask and stamp sets.

As I have already shown you the samples that were made for the launch shows last month I have made this card especially for today's post.

I will be entering this project into the following challenges...

* Sweet Sketch Wednesday - Sketch #89

* Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Thank you

Every now and then I like using a sketch to follow for a card design as otherwise I do find that I tend to stick to the same sorts of layouts.  So using the challenge helped me to find the starting point for my card.
I also wanted to incorporate one of the masks with another sentiment to show how they can be adapted to make them even more versatile and so I chose to use the 'friend' mask alongside a thank you stamp from a Stampin'Up! set.  The main piece of card was cut using a Sue Wilson pierced square and the sentiment using a pierced flag (one of my favourite dies!) ...

Once the mask had been adhered using stick and spray, I coloured both the card and the sentiment using Dried Marigold and Mustard Seed distress inks.  When I removed the mask I used an adhesive rubber to remove any traces of the spray and then, because I wanted the word to match with the rest of the stamping, outlined it with dots using a black pen...

I then chose a selection of floral stamps from the various sets.  (I have to admit that I have not noted which stamps come from which sets as I tend to just mix and match from wherever I feel like). I then used Versafine ink with the larger flowers to create a pattern that I was happy with, then filled in with the smaller flowers, using distress inks with the groups of flowers for a more subtle finish...

To tie the flowers in with the base colours I used some Pitt Artist pens to colour the main flowers (scarlet red, orange glaze, dark chrome yellow, cadmium yellow) and then used went over some with glossy accents and the others with a clear spectrum sparkle pen.  To add an extra bit of glitz I dotted some diamond stickles around the smaller flowers...

These were both then mounted onto black card...

To make the other elements of the card I then cut two strips of card and coloured and stamped them in the same way...

The final element was to create a flower using the Delightful Daisies stamp and die set from Heartfelt Creations.  This was coloured with the same distress inks as the rest of the cards and then layered up with some more stickles added to the centre...

Finally the card was put together and the main image layered up with some foam tape...

For more ideas and inspiration you can also take a look at Leonie's blog and the other members of the design team...
