Creative Artiste - Love, Wish, Dream

Hello!

Happy 2017 and I hope you all had a lovely festive season and that the new year is treating you well so far x

I am starting the new year with my first post for the Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge blog, please click HERE to go over and it would be lovely if you could visit the other design team members blogs as well.

This months sponsor is Things To Alter, and you will find some of their MDF items within my creation.  Click HERE to go over to their store for a look at what is available...

For this month I wanted to create something with lots of texture that also symbolised the hopes of the new year.  Here is the completed project...

I started by using an upright MDF board from 'That's Crafty' with a lovely jagged edge at the top.  The main board was glued into the base and then I tore some corrugated cardboard packaging up and added sections for an extra layer of texture.  Once this was dry I spread Finnabair light paste through a cog/clock stencil from Imagination Crafts and also added some areas of Decoart crackle paste.  This was all then painted with white gesso from Decoart...

I then prepared the elements that I wanted to use.  I love the contrast between quite industrial and floral elements so chose a large clock embellishment from Bee Crafty (for the passing to a new year) as well as MDF flowers, circle and steampunk winged heart from Things to Alter.  I also wanted the softer look of paper flowers, so chose some of various sizes and styles in brown tones.  I painted all the MDF pieces with gesso so that they would take the other mediums well, then painted them with a mixture of Decoart fluid acrylics...

The main board was also painted with Decoart acrylics...

Patina antiquing cream was then added and rubbed back to leave colour in between the raised areas.  Once the other elements had been added Gold Pebeo gilding wax was rubbed on to the texture and also a little bit of patina gilding wax from Comic Shimmer.

The final touches were to stamp a sentiment from Tim Holtz (Stamper's Anonymous), adding some distress ink and spray to match the colours to the project and then adding some rusty wire around the top...

I would like to enter this project into the following challenges...

* More Mixed Media Challenge - Anything Goes
* Countryview Challenges - Anything Goes
* Mixed Media Mojo - Theme: New, Optional Twist:Clocks

* Rhedds Creative Spirit - Altered Art/Mixed Media
* That's Crafty - Anything Goes

I hope you enjoyed seeing the process of how this project was made it was great fun!

I hope you all continue with a year that makes you happy!

Tomorrow I will be back with some projects using the latest 'For The Love of Stamps' products that are launching on Create and Craft at 9am, Saturday 7th January and on Monday I will be posting a give away as I have reached 50 followers!!
